WHAT HAPPENS AT WHISKY CLUB?

Well, for a start, it’s the opposite OF Fight Club; we don’t fight, and we want you to tell everyone about it.

The Landlord of the Shoes, aka Callum, aka me, the person writing this post, took on the pub with his partner Ashley in 2024. Previously, I worked in whisky for over a decade across multiple brands, and I also opened and still own shares in The Hideout in Bath, rated as one of the best whisky bars in the UK.

So when the Shoes got rolling, I needed an excuse to drink and talk about whisky. Luckily, there seemed to be plenty of interested punters in the pub to help satisfy my need. I originally thought the drinking would be the main focus, but they actually enjoy the whisky knowledge as well.

What started off as a group of ten keen to learn, budding whisky enthusiasts just over a year ago, soon turned into a group of thirty-five. The faces chop and change month to month, but it’s always a full house.

I like whisky very much.
— A Budding Whisky Enthusiast

What happens on the night?

Now that’s the history out of the way, this is how it rolls: it kicks off at 7pm on the last Wednesday of every month. We have a cheeky little cocktail designed by the Luckys team to kick us off and get the taste buds going, followed by a range of five whiskies that link to a different theme every month (e.g have a look at the cask on that, weird casks from across the globe). Most of the time it’s hosted by me, but we occasionally have guest speakers from another distillery or bars. So far, we’ve had guest tastings from Nikka, and Berry Brothers & Rudd, with many more already on the cards.

Sound good?

We flog tickets for this here. But be quick, they sell out fast.

For up to date news, you can join the WhatsApp community or pop into the pub and ask one of the team.

Catch you in a bit!
