WHO’S SLINGING THOSE COCKTAILS?
Harry

Hi, I’m Harry. For almost two years now, I’ve been doing my best not to annoy my boss—though I’m not sure I’ve been particularly successful! During that time, Marsh and I have spent plenty of hours behind the bar, slinging cocktails and experimenting with new ideas.
Choosing a favourite cocktail is a difficult one, but the Negroni has always stood out to me. If we’re talking beer, however, Kronenbourg takes the top spot every time.
One of my favourite projects at Lucky’s was creating a blood orange cordial using fruit supplied by Graham the Fruit Man. The oranges were nearing the end of their life, so it challenged me to think creatively and use different techniques to get the best out of them. It was a great opportunity to learn and experiment.
The drink I’m most proud of is the Hunter’s Highball, which I created for Lucky’s using local ingredients from the garden alongside produce from Graham the Fruit Man. It incorporated some techniques I’d been keen to explore, and it was incredibly rewarding to see it sell quickly and receive such positive feedback from guests.
Picking a favourite place in Bradford is tricky, especially as I spend most of my time in The Shoes (apparently that answer doesn’t count, according to Callum). Outside of work, I’m a fan of the local bookies and the Grocery Basket, largely because of the warm welcome you always get from the staff.
When I’m not at work—which sometimes feels like a rare occasion—you’ll usually find me out on my motorbike, playing a round of golf, or enjoying a pint in a beer garden.

Ello, I’m Marshall. The sarcastic bartender with the backwards hat, well one of them anyway!
I’ve been at the shoes since May 2025. It’s become a bit of a second home to me and you’ll rarely catch me anywhere else. If you do, I’ll probably just be on my way down there!
I’ve been in Lucky’s since the very beginning with Harry. Since we started we’ve made loads of great friends, attended huge industry events and worked on really cool stuff for our menus It’s been such a whale of a time. Long may it continue!
My proudest drink I’ve put on the menu will have to be castaway. I based it on my favourite song, Message In A Bottle by The Police. I designed it for my first ever competition and it won me second place! Also one of the first drinks on the menu to use ingredients fresh from our garden!
If you get the privilege of my presence on the other side of the bar I’ll be on Guinness without a shadow of a doubt.
Well that’s a lie, there is doubt, I love a healthy glass of Malbec! Now if you’re talking cocktails I’ll have a corpse reviver no 2, a proper kick in the teeth. Hold the absinthe though, hideous stuff.
When I’m not at work. I like to do the crossword with the locals, play chess with them too if I can convince them. I read a lot as well and I’m an out of print book sourcing savant. Huge nerd for it!

When at the Shoes I love a “gooch” a shot of gin in a tall glass with ice then topped up with hooch.
When I’m not slinging drinks my favourite thing to do in Bradford on Avon is to get fish and chips then head down to the river to spot fish swimming.
My favourite thing about the Shoes is it’s a busy vibrant bar with a rustic classic pub atmosphere which is hard to find these days.
